Welcome to Edem Villas and Apartments – a family run business and a symbol of warm Greek hospitality, located in the heart of the Kassandra peninsula in Halkidiki. Our story began nearly 50 years ago, crafted with love and care by our grandparents, who laid the foundation for what has now become a beloved holiday escape.
Grandparent’s Heritage
This house, constructed by our grandparents, is not just a building made of bricks and mortar; it’s a place of family memories and traditions. Initially built as a private family home, it opened its doors to guests a few years ago. Our grandparents chose to rent it out selectively, to families who return year after year, drawn by the home’s charm and our family’s warm welcome. We do not use an automated booking system, preferring instead to get to know our guests personally, just like our grandparents did back in the day.
Continuing the Legacy
When our parents took over from our grandparents, they did so with the intention of preserving their ethos while bringing in modern comforts. Our website is a nod to contemporary conveniences, while upholding the traditional values of hospitality and personal connection. Each year, we introduce new upgrades, from installing swinging sofas to improving the internet connectivity, installing high quality mattresses and others, overall ensuring that our home meets modern standards while retaining its rustic charm. Our family, consisting of my parents and four brothers, have all played our part in the upkeep and enhancement of the place over the years.
A Witness to Local History Till Today
When this house was built, the area was sparsely populated, with only a few houses dotting the landscape between Hanioti and Polychrono. Since then, the region has blossomed into a vibrant holiday destination, with the nearby sea garnering multiple Blue Flag awards. The palm trees in our garden planted in the 1980’s, now stand over 13 meters tall, embodying the rich history of this place. Our home has been a silent witness to many events, including offering refuge to people during the great Halkidiki fire of 2007. Today, even as the area thrives with holiday buzz, Villa Edem and Apartments remains a unique oasis of privacy and tranquility. It’s a blend of the old and the new – where Halkidiki’s charm of the past meets the comfort of the present.
